If you have an OEM dash panel, it will be a PEM for 18 gauge steel.

Do you know what thickness the PEM was you used for the dash pad? (0,1,2,3). Awesome thread, refurbing my 1985 cj7 right now.

The upside of course is the same thing we all share, the love of the intangible Jeep freedom and all that come with it.
The down side, the 10 or so that now have their own Jeeps (various years), come to me to fix, install, upgrade, FIX their Jeeps. The Quadratec box was from one of them - the front plastic thingy that makes up the sport top thingy on a 2004. The kid wanted to put a bikini top on like mine.
At least it's not a Toyota Land Cruiser box of parts (my other vehicle in the picture) - OH but wait, I almost forgot, Toyota Land Cruiser's don't break and have almost no aftermarket parts to add on.... A shame really.

There's a bunch of secret crap hidden on it, I'll be glad to show you. I mostly hide it so nobody will steal it - no new paint, no over the top external bling, etc. Dana 60 locked rear - check...

Yep, this should just about piss everyone off - 1985 CJ-7 - ALL STOCK, sitting in a garage for the past 18 years - untouched.
That's right, a garage find Jeep.
No rust, not one undercarriage scratch (never been off road), 100k miles.

Does the tachometer at least function?
Overall, the Renegade looks to be in good shape, very little rust so must have been in California its entire life. I'll be heading that way tomorrow for a few days and then off to Portland, OR.

Keith, I totally abide to your high restoration standard bar. We should all strive for such detail.
I know, without a doubt, I couldn't have done my Tach instill without all the amazing CL (Center Line) drawings and variouse parts lists you've provided.

Obviously, all readers won't need the red 'night gauge reading torch' but, if you guys are interested in the details, the part number is: 123CrapyAssFlashlight - Amazon for sure.
Also, the right pro-mounting sub-straight is crucial - I say again, crucial to the proper install. Just any old sub-straight won't do, no, no. You have to have the right density, water resistance and malleability to get that 'factory' look. I didn't have that so I used some cardboard I found in the trash.

The correct bulbs for illuminating the speedometer gauge are the short #53 bulbs, 4 each. Anything longer will melt the blue plastic domes of the speedometer if longer bulbs are used there. Ask me how I know.

|cw05||Keith, thanks for your detailed write-ups! I still refer back to this thread and others that you have done in the past. Do you or anyone else happen to know what the correct bulb size for the factory Faria voltmeter gauge is? It is not listed in the M.R. 252 FSM or anywhere that I can find on the web. The guys at Advance Auto parts tried to get me to buy a round bulb that did not look like it will fit. I took a straight bulb out (no end flare like a typical home incandescent bulb) that I believe is either a 1891 or 1893 out. They did not stock either at the store and I like to confirm what I'm looking for prior to going to other stores. Thanks for your advice.|

|acgcoug||My '79 has a single speaker, and the powerhouse, original AM only radio. I was able to replace my speaker without removing the dash.|
