DarkSide13 I upgraded my speakers with the Kicker CS series that Best Buy had on sale a while back. Great upgrade and each pair was less than $60. I ended up replacing the factory base radio with a Kenwood touch screen. Needed more bass after that and added a Kicker Comp 10 that was good for 600w and an Alpine amp that puts out around 550. Best car audio system I've had in a vehicle, but I usually got cheaper components in the past because that was what my finance manager (aka wife) would approve. The amp was small enough that it fit under the passenger seat and is mounted to a short 1x4 just to keep it off the carpet and allow a little airflow around the bottom to help keep it cool. The Kicker CS speakers are the same speakers that you can get in the upgrade kit with new custom mounts that are over $100 for each pair. I destroyed my factory speakers (wasn't worried about keeping them) and modified those brackets to work. I'm into the entire system for about $600 and it sounds like I spent WAY more than that.

Sub Set Up For Jeep

I just installed a 10'' sub in my 2017 JKU Softtop and it is perfect.
I wanted something that would provide a More Full Sound.

Most important for me was the fact that you don't loose any space!
The box is custom built for them by a company called BRP.

I added the link to the site.[/url]

You can get just the box, or the whole kit for a fair price (box, sub, amp)

I can attest to sound and quality.. Worth every penny!

Ainoskedu2 Found it! Hope it helps!07104!US!-1

P.s I would reccommand Polk audio speakers if you really planning on upgrading. They sound good, reasonably priced and are marine grade so they can get a little wet.

Also check out these little amps. They are tiny but pack a punch. Seen quite a lot of them installed in a few Jeeps and Toyota's from where I'm from. Would be perfect to stash under the steering wheel.

I personally like their amps. I run a acs-1000D 1000w mono amp in my jeep. And a xma5900ir 1600w 5channel in my nissan.

Ainoskedu2 You should be able to fit a slim powered sub underneath the front passenger seat. If I recalled correctly when I was doing my stereo back in 2014. I purchased a underseat bracket from ebay. On one of the various pictures of things that was mounted on it was a powered kicker sub mounted on it. It even had the dimensions of what you can mount on it so that may help you. Let me see if I can find a link to it.

djcrigh Thanks for the info. I have been looking at an under seat mounted powered sub, but there is just no room under the passenger or drivers seat. I did find a video of someone who put it the that trunk area in the back and accessed the wiring in the right rear panel behind the back seat. Just not sure of how that would sound. I am pretty green when it comes to this audio stuff so I may be looking at an amp and better quality speakers as another option. There is another video of a guy who mounted an amp under the steering column and changed to better speakers.

Still doing more research, Don

cranbiz In a 17, the factory sub is mounted in the cargo area over the "trunk"

The main wiring should be there, you would have to make the connection from the harness to the sub. You would also need the amp, which goes under the steering column. The radio, amp and sub all are controlled by the CANBUS system. You might need the sales code added by the dealer to make all the factory parts work together.

stereo upgrade

I have a 2017 Wrangler Sport with the stock stereo. I would like to add a subwoofer if possible and maybe better quality speakers. I know you can order a dealer installed Alpine stereo system which would include the subwoofer. My question is, is the car already wired for a subwoofer? Also where is the Alpine sub installed?

Thanks, Don
