It use to be in PA that if your Jeep CJ did not have a rear seat, it had to be registered as a truck.

I have Classic tags now, it's its own category.

StoneTower Ask your DMV. The answer is probably different state to state. In California, many titles titles just say Jeep and that is how people register CJ7s as 1975 pre smog vehicles. I see a lot of them listed on Craigslist but I think the people doing it have no idea what kind of a can of worms they have opened if they happen to get caught. Swapping the VIN is a FEDERAL crime. They could loose their Jeep and they could loose their house paying the legal bills and they could loose their freedom.

Thankfully, you are just trying to figure out what to write down in one of the boxes. Ask the DMV supervisor if they can help you because your state may call it one thing and another state may call it something else. You might get by with simply putting JEEP due to the age of the vehicle. Everyone knows what a JEEP is.

Registering my Jeep

Got a question I have a 58 Willys cj3b that Iím trying to register in NV and for the vin verification the paperwork is asking year make model and body type I have all the info except the body type not sure if the cj was considered a suv etc and on the title it says year 1958 make Willys model/ body type is Jeep CJ3B not sure if this is correct or not any help would be great
