gijimmay1 To be honest I didn't check how fast they were going there, I had her idling in 4th gear. She has about 200000 on her and I think the only thing that hasn't been rebuilt is the transfer case so it could be chain stretch. I don't have an actual stethoscope I isolated the sound using a socket extension against my ear. Trying to get an opinion so I can beg parts money off the sugar momma before I start pulling stuff apart. Thank you for posting the video for me!

Chrisnvegas Good video (sound)

I honestly don't know for sure.
Is your Jeep high mile?

I had a friend who's chain was so stretched, it was hitting the case and eventually wore a hole in it.
@ 300,000 miles + or -

How fast were the rear tires spinning?

Stethascope?

Lets see if anyone knows for sure.

Transfer case or transmission noise?

Been a long time stalker of this forum and have really benefitted from this knowledge base! now i have a problem of my own driving me nuts. So my 94 YJ has had this terrible ticking sound for a while now. it seems to be directly related to wheel speed. It doesn't matter if the clutch is in or out or what direction I'm heading the tick is always there. I put the rear end on jack stands and let the rear tires freewheel and managed to get a video of the sound. Using an extension as a makeshift stethoscope it sounds like the noise is coming from where my transfer case mates with the transmission. I'm going to try to post the video, thanks in advance for any help!
