kadetklapp Unfortunately privacy concerns prohibit me posting my call. I’m a licensed tech. Mostly using 2m/70cm. Due to the hobby dying I’ve recently been drawn to theVOIP side of things with the new rigs coming out which utilize smart phones integrated into a radio. Once I get my interior together in my Jeep it will be a hammy paradise with my Yaesu 7800, pretty Cobra 11 meter, and my incoming Anysecu 4G.

Thank you! We got a used 2007 Commander Limited 3 litre diesel. Today I'm expecting the arrival of a new head unit so we'll have something a little more up to date that can connect to our phones.

Re being a ham, not really been on the air for years although I do have a handy still, but, almost never hear anybody on the air, even through local repeaters. Seems they either all gone digital or switched to internet. Maybe when my girls get older I'll tempt them to the dark side so they can learn some useful skills

I just upgraded two weeks ago to General. Have a Yaesu FT-8800 in the Jeep. A friend of mine offered a Icom 756 pro at a price I couldn't pass up. hence the need to upgrade.

We have no hams currently in my club, but when attending some of the larger runs, find quite a few.

Yeah getting clubs to go HAM is very difficult. Ive had some luck with getting folks to go GMRS. Apparently a 70 dollar 10 year license with no testing is more appealing than having to take a test for 15 dollars and 10 years.

Excellent! Congratulations.

The General does require a bit more study but you can do it.
