My wife has one. It is a 08 silver patriot called the silver bullet. In our house it is know as the girls jeep and my cherokee is known has the boys jeep. The only thing I have to say is the cvt trany is different, you get used to it. We average 19mpg.

The Patriot is an excellent model, I have an 08 Inferno Red, love it, really enjoy driving it, very comfortable, getting 21 mpg in combo driving.

Hope I'm not too late...

The biggest gripe Patriot owners have had so far are the leaky roofs. An oddly large percentage of the members on JP.com have made note of leaks. I'd say somewhere around 7 or 8%. Other than that, people complained a lot about the hard plastic on the arm rests, but if you're looking at 09's, that won't be a concern anymore.

Patriot is a great choice

I purchased an 08 4X2 Sport E package with a sunroof. Love this vehicle. It is really fun to drive. No problems, no leaking roof either and I have been in some hard rain. I get 28 MPG. The seats are comfortable also. Love the heated seats.

Is the leaking roof covered under warranty? I've got an 08 Pat on the way across the Atlantic. It's my first NEW car so I'm a tad nervous about warranty coverage

From what I understand about warranties, if you personally have it shipped over the warranty is void. If a dealer over there is ordering it for you from here then it's what ever warranty they give you in that country.

You say that you got a beater XJ for "your time" there. Are you in the service stationed there or ??? I think that there are some special considerations on that kind of shipping.

Just an opinion on the roof leaks. I could be caused by the roof rails not being sealed correctly. If I had one with the problem I would take them off and silicone seal the heck out of them and reinstall. If the leak was coming from a sun roof I would make sure the tubes aren't clogged or pinched.

The last known problem is that the roof panel was not sealed correctly when it was welded on, that one the factory bought back and I think that it may have been an early production.

Body seams have been the culprit with mine too. I've had it back 4 times now and the next time will be a buy back. Each time the repair lasts for a little while but eventually comes back.

What's your production date? Has anybody narrowed any of this down?
