Arugh! Now I have all these idea's floating in my head!! Lower the Compass, put SRT 4 Caliber rims with a low profile tire! None of these idea's will actually be put to good use! But its nice to dream right?

Anyway, Been searching around on the net for the last couple hours I think I'm sold on the 225/55/18's as my replacement tire. I will have to get something different because Good Year doesn't make the GT's in the size I want. So now it's a toss up of which all season tire performs well and will give a smooth ride and last 50,000 + miles.

Hey Matt. I noticed at the Tirerack they have the tires your looking for in the 225/60/18.
I know you want te 55 series. The 225/60/18 just happen to have a $40 rebate right this minute if you were to go with the 225/60/18 tires. I think it is an exclusive rebate between Goodyear and Tirerack.

Just food for thought.

I saw, I'm a visual person when it comes to purchases. I really am going to need to see a 60 sidewall 18 inch tire on the Compass to really make a solid decision. The patriot view isn't going to cut it for me

Instead now I have all these pictures/idea's in my head of OoOo Maybe this would look good or that would maybe look good. I need to stay the course and just find a picture of MY Jeep with a 225/60/18 tire on a Rallye Rim. There are 400 million people living in the US. I can't be the only person looking for this perticular tire on this perticular rim. The internet say's otherwise!

Out of curiosity, are there any members here that have used a 235/55 with good results?

My current scenario is that I have a nice set of 18x8.5" wide wheels that I'd like to get tires for and put on the Compass in place of the stock 17's. With the rim being 8.5" wide, a 235 is the narrowest option I'm comfortable using.

The wheels have a +42mm offset. Is there any possibility of squeezing a 245/50/18 on there? If not, I'd like your opinions on the 235/55. Thanks!

I'm running 215/70s now and I know 225/70s fit with no rub but is there anyone running 235/70 on a stock FDI MK 2012 or otherwise? Is there any rubbing whatsoever on the pinch weld, or struts, or anywhere else. Thanks in advance. Pictures would be great!

Never gonna happen. Way too tall, tire would be up in the springs.

Wonder if this gentlemen had a typo and meant 225/70 not 235/70 that he put on his 1" lower than my riot without any rubbing supposedly? I've commented on his thread but it's a few years old doubt I get a response tires do look stuffed in there.

I'd highly appreciate any wisdom behind this, as I'm thinking to downsize my current SJ6 225/70 to improve handling as being too softy. And 27.5 is close to stock so no re-calibration needed...

Thanks a lot on that post @Page 6, a solid reference, bookmarked many times but now I'm really interesting about that "poor" in getting profile lower only 5% from 70 "excellent" to 65.

I've been looking for tires for my 2014 Jeep Patriot Sport. It has 16" rims, and for the life of me, I can't get a straight answer anywhere. Will the 225/70R16" fit with no problems?

16" wont fit my Jeep Compass Limited?????

I'm being told that 16" rims would intefere with my brakes on my 2008 Jeep Compass Limited.

I wanted to replace the 18" with 16"s from a Patriot to use heftier (and lower cost) snow tires

16" generally should fit ( I use 16" steel Patriot wheels for winter on my '14 Compass - and 15" alloys in summer). However it is possible that an unusual wheel design could interfere with the brakes.

I really hate to ask, but I have been reading for a few days on this and seem to still be stuck. 2007 Compass Sport currently has 215/65r17 Geolander AT/S - does anyone know if the 235/65r17 Hankook Dynapro AT RF10 would fit without any rub etc? Seems like it could go 50/50 as to wether it would or not.

Though I am not without weakness, I will define what lies ahead.

Assuming stock wheels and therefore stock offset; the 235s are 20 mm wider so you would need 10 mm clearance. The tight spot will be the inside of the front wheels. You can check this pretty easily by measuring ie you need 10 mm clearance measuring from the 215s.
The 235s are about an inch taller so again you need a half inch of extra clearance compared to the 215s. The tight spot in this respect will be the rear of the front wheel wells (the pinch weld) when turning the wheel. Have someone turn the steering wheel for you and watch for the closest approach, if less than 1/2" then it will rub.
You will lose clearance so you would have trouble using tire chains, if that's needed. The speedometer will read low due to the taller tires.
