But when he opened the fill tank the entire tube came out with the cover! Now I'm pretty sure that's not suppose to happen!! I'm thinking OMG we have a trip to Florida planned not so long from now! WTF? Now I've been reading this forum and see that it may be a factory defect. Is it really? Can I possibly get this supposedly big job done for free?!?
Hi crazychelle,
If you do choose to visit the dealer regarding this, we would be more than happy to offer an additional layer of assistance. Please feel free to send our team a private message with additional details.

The reason they never did a "recall", meaning forced too. No body bags. Its not a safety issue, but quality issue. now if that dip stick when it breaks could say come through the floor board and kill you. THEN the boys at the Government might get involved and even that depends on the body count.

As for having fiat fix what is defective, same part and design? just pop it in and hope. sounds like the clock spring issue......sure its a junk part but hey we will replace it as needed for X amount of miles. well for some that means at least once ever two years. its a 250$ part and about equal labor. part works well as long as it never sees dust. wait its a JK jeep. trail rated but not dust......well i guess this issue could not be cracked by NASA's best. dust is intrusive...........we can not expect Fiat design to do any better right Tony?

Yes, I kept my 2012 Compass, no problems since this dipstick broke off. Dealership fixed it for free.
