half doors were a no-go on a rubi. i was wanting to order them, but according to saleslady, the only way to get them was to order a sport. (i'm sure there's a way, but not through her access)

thanks! feels great to be back in a wrangler, for sure.

After checking the jeep site, you could get half doors with a rubi, and you paid 1600 for power locks, Windows, remote entry, alarm, auto dimming rear view mirror and power heated mirrors

nothing is ever free

...i'm still not seeing the half door option on the rubi, though.

Half doors are available on the 2 door JK Rubicon, not the 4 door JKU Rubicon. At least for now.

i've been seeing a lot more half-door options these days compared to when i had my 2008. back then, the only option was to order all parts from factory and assemble then paint...i think when i was researching then it was like $6k+ to get it all done. there's comparable options for 1/2 that much these days.

on another note, i've got a mod i need to install (hopefully today). nothing huge, but a mod nonetheless. as soon as i get it in place, i'll post up some pics and deets.

put your tongue in my receiver...

mod 2 - jeep tow hitch receiver and wiring harness - (harness: $34.25; amazon) - posted on a Houston Jeep Freaks (facebook) that i was in search of a tow hitch receiver for blue beast. a guy responded and said i could have his take-off for free; thanks chris! (it's a jeep thing; hopefully y'all understand!). then i ordered the wiring harness off amazon. installed the receiver earlier this week and finally got around to helping my 9yr old install the wiring harness today (gotta teach them young ). everything seems to be working fine; even hooked up the trailer to test the lights. the way the instructions said to run the wiring was a little awkward (said to go below the frame rail), so i opted to run it above...don't want to bang it on rocks or snag it on brush in the future. everything lined up with the tabs into the premade holes in the frame either way.

they see me rolling...

i've done a lot of driving for my job over the last 2 years...with that being said, i've seen some pretty wacky stuff. i'm not crazy, but sometimes people just don't believe my "big fish" stories...

mod 3 - black box g1w-c dashcam - ($69.95; plus 32gb sd card @ $11.04) - so a dashcam is what i got for christmas in 2014...yeah, i'm a little slow with this install. lol.

not a hard install. pretty much just run wire from under carpet on passenger's side and up the dash and across the windshield. i just tucked it away behind the plastic all professional-like i would suggest starting your wire from where you want the unit placed on your dash. the 12 ft cord is too long and you don't want that wire hanging out on your dashboard.

happy new year's to all, and to all a good night
(don't drink and drive!)

I got the max tow package so it came with the hitch. But good job involving your son with the install!.

Dash cam looks fun, I could see where they could be handy.

BTW, so where are you on mileage. I've been driving it so much I've already got about 1350 miles on mine (which is very out of character, the 2011 I just sold to my eldest daughter only had 32k miles).

I'm really enjoying mine, and it sounds like you are too.

just shy of 1500 miles. I put 24k on my company truck in 11 months in 2015. I'm working for myself now, so hopefully I won't be putting that much on the beast. we will see.
