Just did this with my 2012. If you can, try and shoot for a 2014 + model engine.

Tons of totalled soccer mom jeeps laying around in junk yards. You shouldn't have too big of a issue finding a complete one.

How do you go about locating these junk yards?

Thanks.

If you had to choose between World Peace and a Jeep, what size tires would you run?

What is it worth?

My neighbor wants to buy the car as is.
Does anyone have any idea what to ask for it? ... as mentioned, the engine needs to be replaced.
It has 61k miles and the side rear soft zip windows are missing, along with the rear.
2010 Wrangler JK, sport two door, 6 cyl., 4 wheel drive.
Thanks for any suggestions.

KBB is based on a running/driving vehicle. Yours is neither of those.

A fair price for you would be the actual market value minus the actual total cost of an engine replacement.

So if a soup-to-nuts engine repair was $6000, deduct that from fair market and the sale price would be about $9K.

Now if your neighbor is a mechanic, and can do the swap for less- then it might be worthwhile for him!

If he can't, and has to pay a mechanic, then the sales price may have to be less for him

Good info Hoss, and I was quoted 6k a month ago to replace the engine. You are spot on!
Seems to me, I should pay the mechanic to do that, and then put it on the market for 12k.
I am no longer in the ballgame of doing it myself, as my dad is not well and not able.

Seems an excellent candidate for a Hemi or LS swap. I know you can get that done for around 5k on the low end. If you market it as such, you might cast a wider net and get a little more for it.

61k is pretty low mileage, and replacing the missing windows isn't a huge expense, but how weathered is the interior after being exposed to the elements without said windows?

If someone offered you 10k for it as is, you should whip out the title and get it gone.

I will fight a bear

It is off to the mechanic and a remanufactured engine is going on. It will cost 5,3k total.
Yes, low mileage, so I am hoping to get a fair price for it, 12-15k.
It looks good, but does need rear soft zip windows.
Thanks for the info.
