painting top of Hardtop white

My 2015 JKUR has the typical black hardtop. Has anyone painted just the top of it white to keep the heat down? Was thinking white or silver to reflect. Any Ideas on prep or type of paint?

Haven't heard or seen a lot here; but it's fairly common in the CJ side of things.

A lot more seals on the JK to paint around, but it should be doable.

#1, don't sand it. Thats horrible when they are half sanded smooth.

General consensus is to clean them well , and either spray or roll. (Seriously).

You want a semi gloss at most, not too shiny. Anything with a decent UV protection. Do NOT want use Berliner or raptor or such.

What color is your jeep. I think White would be ok on some, but silver would look terrible on all .

I was thinking of painting just the flat part on top, basically no one would see it unless they are really tall. Not the sides. My Jeep is Red.

Garage
When I had to do fiberglass repairs on my TJ hardtop I cleaned it really well and then gave it a wipe with zylene. After that I rolled it with a high quality exterior acrylic eggshell. I was painting it black again but it should be the same for white. Mine you could not tell it was not the factory paint job.

Do you have access to a thermal temp gun? (Or even a thermometer?)

I'm curious how how the inside temp actually gets vs the sides/ Windows.

My guess is that most heat comes in through sides/ glass...

I have a infrared at work I'll try to get. I noticed a difference by putting my hand against the top that was un covered and an area under a piece of white cardboard.
