That’s one hell of a cage, very nice.

Was that a team effort or did you tackle the job yourself. Obviously that was no amateur job and the bends and welds are excellent, great pics too.

I can see why he's in demand. That cage is worthy of a 20,000 lb vehicle! Very stylish and quite unique to boot...

A point to note - the seats are mounted to the CAGE - not the floor. THAT is the way to prevent serious injury. A lot of times we see the seat remain mounted to the floor while the belts and or harnesses are mounted to the cage. In an extreme roll over multiple tumble the floor pan can go one way and the cage another as the body etc tries to wrap around whatever support there is - not pretty what that resultant tug of war on the belts can do to the occupant. When seat and harness are mounted to the the same cage structure the entire vehicle can be wadded up and ripped away and the belts do not get effected!

Well from the looks of the craftsmanship I must say it was worth it. It’s obvious that you’ll be safe in it but the “cool factor” is something else all of its own.

Seats and harness bolted to the cage was an requirement and not to mention frame tieins. If I were to roll I want the cage to completely perfect me and my passengers.

Definitely a lot of work into this and it has a very cool design, lots of sweet tube work here. That being said, there is one major issue I have with the builder's work: he's done both frame tie in and body tie in. Lots of tubes are terminating at a plate welded to the body and I saw four tied into the frame. This is a pretty serious design flaw and a legitimate safety concern.

Example, the B to C hoop is welded to the body as well as the A to B hoop. Then there is a C hoop which welded directly to the frame as well as an intermediate vertical tie in between the B and C pillar...placed right next to a tube tied into the body.

The JK body is mounted on rubber bushings and flexes A LOT. By tying a cage into the frame and the body you create a problem. Half of the cage is trying to move with the body, half of it is opposing it, that's just in daily driver conditions. The effect is greatly amplified in event of a flop or roll, there's a ton of energy transferred in that situation. Enough to separate welds. A poorly executed roll cage can turn into a meat grinder under the right stresses.

I'm not trying to trash your build, I apologize if I've come off that way, I'm sure you have a lot invested in the cage.

How do you figure? All tubing (A,B,C,&D) are all welded to the frame.
