Larger tires, unsrung weight, bouncy suspension

Hey all,

2017 jk sport S.

Took off the stock (255??? /75r17) wheels.
Added Rubi rims (they look nicer than the five-spokes).
Increased tire size to 285/70r17 Duratrak with lots of lumpy tread (i.e. more mass).

It's only been about a week so maybe I'm still a little nervous about the change, but on the interstate about 70-ish i hit a really decrepit piece of pavement, really bumpy.
Seems to me that the jeep was waaaaayyyy more jumpy and vibrate-y and jiggly than stock. It was quite alarming, actually, and I can imagine a worse bump at a faster speed might lead to lane excursion or a broken part down below...

Is it because of the increase in unsprung weight due to the new tires???

If so, what is a good solution?

I do not think it is that "wobble", but i don't know - might i get the death wobble just from adding larger tires?

Btw, everything else is still stock. I have not yet added spacers (will need to tho, as hard turns cause rubbing on the sway bar), and have not yet added a leveling kit or poor man's 1.5"-2" lift.

Check your air pressure. Generally tire shops over inflate tires. You probably need to be in the 30-32 PSI range and I'll bet you are close to 40 PSI.

Over inflated tires will cause the condition you described.
