Door rattle

So I have a rattle on the passenger side and thought I'd try the tape on the striker plate fix but I don't understand how u do it. A. The tape doesn't stick due to grease and B. The second u close the door the tape comes apart anyways. Am I missin something here?

THe tape goes on the loop attached to the door pillar, not the latch inside the door panel.

^^ X2. if u are putting it on the striker like u explained above there will be grease on it from the latch mechanism on the door. u will have to get this off for the tape to stick (again, as u said). if the tape isn't staying on then there prob is some more grease on there that u just need to clean off. not sure what to use to get it off but sure someone on here will know. i'm really surprised jeep let this one go but hey can't be too surprised i guess.

If they have to adjust the door, do they have to cut the paint around the hinges? Or do you mean the door latch mechanism itself?

This rattle is wicked bad on my 2011 Unlimited (driver's side). I plan to let the dealer deal with it when it goes in for its first oil change. I don't like the idea of them having to adjust hinges though, so I'm hoping you meant the latch assembly.

so i took my jeep to the dealership and they took care of this issue no problem....they have a "bulletin" out for this issue

it's easier if you just take it to the dealer, it only took them like 30 minutes

What'd they do to it? Just grease it?

they told me that they did but honestly i'm not sure....when i left the dealership i heard no rattle and for about 2 weeks i did not hear a rattle but low and behold, it started to rattle again. i wrapped the catches like everyone said above and i have had no issues since....probably have to replace the tape every few months depending on how much you keep the doors on

if you take it to the dealer, it will just be a waste of time, take the 10 minutes to put on the tape and you will be more than happy and wont even notice it

TSB 23-024-08 covers this. Basically grease the latch mechanism on the door. It worked for me.

Post 84 on this thread https://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f96/b...21/index6.html has the TSB attached.
