The only thing I can think of is that it will accept the larger tubes. Other than that I thought that the JK44 was supposed to be better than the others.
My plan is to strip the brackets from my JK44 and use full outer sleeves and a new bracket set. I'll be removing the C's to install the sleeves with no splits and reinstalling the C's at a better pinion angle.

And, of course that the Cs come already strengthened.

Ask Robert if they bore out the inner c's to 3in or if they but weld them to the tubes

The tubes will make the housing stronger but the jk uses the next generation dana 44 which has bigger ring and pinion gears so if the donor diff is pre 2007 is will use a smaller gear set and therefore will be weaker in the gears.

If you learned something new today, you had a good day.

Only the rear Jk 44 runs an actual bigger (inch wise) ring gear at 8.9in. The front hp44 still uses a 8.5in ring gear which is the same as all previous 44's. But the Jk hp44 does have bigger bearings and a bigger pinion shaft which is desirable. But not a deal breaker in my book. Your very limited on lockers with the Jk housing. With the older housing carrier options are limitless

What type of Ford center is it? Depending on the model, it may use larger bearings, which is a plus. Does it use shims or adjusters for the carrier?
