2012 Rubicon Soft Top Missing Parts ??

I just bought my first wrangler - 2012 Rubicon with hard top. Soft top came with Jeep, and I think it's missing parts. Dealership I bought it from purchased it at auction, so they do not know where the top came from / what brand it was. Second dealer where I went to have it serviced told me it was not a Mopar or Jeep soft top, however, I later located a Chrysler logo on the top. The numbers next to the logo were: 1PJ79 TRMAE then a second row with 39840 10762. There was a sheet with the car (no manual, just this sheet that looks like it might have been printed from online and may not have come with the top) that said Jeep sunrider guide.

The service department at the Jeep dealership said it was missing a bar that runs across the top on each side that secures the soft top. They said it was a "top roof molding"? Where can I find the missing parts?

This is my first jeep and I know nothing about cars. I can't figure out what to do short of replacing the whole soft top, but the one in the car already looks brand new, and I'd rather not spend the money on a full replacement. Can anyone help a girl (and her cute little lab) out??

Hi Rachel, Welcome to Jeepforum. Morris4x4center.com has diagrams of the soft top for you to compare what you have to what is available. You can enter your VIN here to see if it originally came with a soft top or not. I think it says "Dual Top Group" if it came with both.

If you are having a hard time identifying parts post up some pics of what you have. One of us should be able to help you out.

This is very helpful! Thank you! Apparently it came with a soft top, so that means I can probably use jeep parts. I will post some pics today, now that I have an assist on the top.

That's a Mopar top, the dealer you spoke to is smoking crack. You can tell it's a Mopar top by 1) It says Chrysler (duh), 2) The roll bar mount. Bestop and others only use one mount point to attach instead of 2.

Do you have the plastic door surrounds?

I think it looks like you are missing the bars that tie into the plastic knuckle for the sunrider feature Part# 68003641AA and that also lock into the door surrounds, but I'm not sure from the pictures. You do have the windshield header bar, the tailgate bar and the 2 loop top supports.

Seeing as that is a $170 part, we probably should have more pictures before stating for sure. Can you get a shot with the sunrider open about half way? Front view and side view will help.

Do you have the windows by chance? I see you have the tailgate bar in one of the pictures. That slides onto the rear window.

I definitely need to get the windows, I know for sure I don't have those. But I couldn't order those until I determined what top I had, which it looks like was just determined above

OK, the top itself is complete. Your issue is the missing door surrounds. As this is a JKU, you need both front and back door surrounds AND the bolts that attach them to the roll bar.

So the dealer that said roof top molding is right, just they are called Door Surrounds by us and Frames by the dealer.

Here are the Mopar part numbers and pricing from moparonlineparts
Upper Frame Left (Front) 5182825AG $54.87
Upper Frame Right (Front) 5182824AG $54.87
Lower Frame Left (Rear) 5182820AC $105.15
Lower Frame Right (Rear) 5182821AC $105.15
Qty 2 Window Frame Pin 55397130AC $22.54 ea
Qty 2 Upper Frame Retainer 55397132AB $20.77 ea

I don't know if you need the left and right brackets and screws. Not sure where they go, but if you do, let us know.

As for soft top windows, complete 4 Dr tinted window kit Part# 82213831 $292.32.

If you got to buy all this stuff, I would be pissed. Unless you got a killer deal on this, I would have the selling dealer supply you with your missing pieces. Doesn't matter to me where they got it. My guess is they will have most of these pieces lying around from take offs and provide them to you.

Thanks - I am kind of irritated with the seller for telling me it had everything when it didn't! How do I know if I have the mopar top with cable or without? There are 2 part numbers for each part, one has the cable and one doesn't. I can't tell what I have?

I don't think it matters as far as the surrounds , pins and windows go. The door surrounds are listed with the frame components, not with the tops.
