what to do with the antenna

for christmas santa got my some windshield lights and some cool fog lights- they look exactly like the Daylighters, but only cost 15 bucks a piece. anyhoo, the radio antenna is in the way of the lights. what are my solutions? im probably going to bend the antenna, but has anyone cut it? how does reception suffer? has anoyone replaced it with a stubby rubber antenna? all help will be appreciated-DAVE

Hey. I have 100 watt daylighters on my windshield. I just zip-tied the antenna to the mount. It doesn't bend much at all. More like...curves.

I don't have lights there yet... but in anticipation of getting them, I put on a stubby rubber antenna I got at PepBoys for about $5. I did loose a little reception, but I mostly use my mp3 player anyway.

Sorry for the huge pic, but it's the only one with a good shot of the antenna.

if the light mounts are grounded it might affect AM reception. See my post titled "03 wrangler radio problem". My antenna was contacting my Congo Cage mount and although it didn't affect FM reception it caused severe static on AM when the antenna would wiggle while touching the mount. It only seems to be a problem if the antenna is moving, you might try securing it to the mount but I solved my problem by just putting a small rubber sleeve on the antenna to insulate it from the mount.

If the lights you got are indeed fog lights, you're much better off installing them on the bumper. With the wide beam pattern of fog lights, you will get glare off of your hood and not much performance. Generally speaking, fogs go on the bumper and pencil/spot lights go on the windshield.

I have hella 500s which are way thinner and I just pulled the antenna behind the light and tried to bend it but no matter how much I tried it just flexed right back to its original position.

You can use a CB antenna as a FM antenna for the radio also. all you need is a CB antenna ($10-$20) and a splitter that takes the FM signal ($5) The splitter goes just behind the glove box. Take out the glove box, and you'll see the FM antenna wire. any place that sells CB stuff should have what you need

So I can use my regular CB antenna for my FM radio and my CB radio with just a splitter?

I have KC Titaniums and the antenna wore the finish off the side.
