What did your TJ do TO YOU today?

A complete 180 turn of a certain popular thread, where we proudly post our latest mods/work we do to our rigs. Of course there is the other no-so pleasant side. I hope to see some stories.

Mine is, the engine died on mine while traveling on the freeway. I was going fast enough that I was able to get over to the right shoulder. The Lord was certainly looking out for me today. Our portion of I-10 is undergoing major renovations and there are a lot of places where there are no shoulders. Called for help, went for the trailer and got to a safe place without major grief.

Turned out, the fuel pump fuse was burned out. Put in a new one but blew that one too. I eventually found that a wire on the fuel pump had grounded. I had installed a fuel tank Rockman steel armor long ago and a wire got scuffed enough on an edge until the bare wire got exposed and grounded. I used some liquid tape to cover the exposed wire and after it dried overnight, installed a piece of split loom tubing and taped the end to hold it in place. That should take care of the problem.
You might want to take a look into that if you have a fuel tank armor installed. I installed a new fuel pump last summer. Would have been a great opportunity to protect the wires but who would have known.

Mine drove me to the trail so I could ride my fatbike. It also drove me home. I rewarded it by washing the salt off, everyone is happy

Since mines still in the ‘almost finished project’ stage, I did an odd variety of stuff today. Got the speedometer plug swapped out so hopefully I’ll have a reading, even though it looks to be 36% low, got the inspection cover reinstalled and tranny coolant lines supported and then I tore into why I don’t have any turn signals. The switch was pretty green inside and after some scrubbing and lubing I now have flashers and signals again! Getting pretty close to getting her back on the road!

I did a complete revamp of the clutch system including a new bell housing and literally a day later my Jeep says F.U. and the power steering pump goes out on me. Not to mention that I replaced it a year and a half ago.
