My flares were factory dark gray, but they had the effect of looking like faded black. I decided to paint them black. I used Boogie's idea of slipping index cards between the flares and fenders, and knocked it out quick. I did improvise a little bit and used junk mail instead of index cards.

Yesterday Installed new front and rear bumpers w/ tire carrier. today Made a custom 1/4 inch thick aluminum mounting plate for my ARB twin comp so I could mount it to the fender wall behind the passenger side seat. Wired it all up and got air to my rear locker ( still need the solenoid for the front locker.) Tested the rear locker in driveway all seems to be working good. Will be doing my first shake down trip this coming Sunday.

Just did the ZJ steering upgrade, since my Jeep has over 100k miles on it, I replaced the Drag Link too. I didn't think my steering was shot before the upgrade, but it does feel a lot better now.

What type of paint did you use?

Awesome trick! Worth the effort. I have a silver F150 that the fenders are actually starting to match LOL

Nice job! Looks much better. I did the same thing when I bought my 05' with gray flares and matching top. I ditched the gray top for a black one too.

Krylon fusion works great and no primer needed. I just wiped my down with rubbing alcohol to clean them first.

Washed it up after a 2000 mile tow behind the diesel pusher thru rain and, yes, snow. It was quite dirty!

Are the zj parts better than the tj parts? I have done everything except the drag link and now wondering if I should have upgraded?
