UCF Engine skid 2.5L install

I recently bought the Undercover Fab aluminum engine skid and really like it. The only thing I can't figure out is how to attach it to the frame.

I thought I was missing the brackets that bolt to the engine mounts but Matt at UCF said I didn't need them.

I have been stumped trying to figure out how this goes on. I PM'd another JF member who stated they had bought the skid but they were unable to figure it out either.

Has anyone done this install for the 2.5L? I contacted UCF regarding some pictures or install instructions but have not received a return email. Otherwise I am really pleased with the product.

I just did the install a couple weeks ago, I thought the same thing. Matt emailed me the pictures but I already deleted them.
You have to drill a hole in each motor mount base? This part was a huge pain. Tough to get a drill in there and holes are 3/8 inch. It took me 2 hours of positioning and repositioning to finally get things lined up well. I also had to grind the edge of the skid down to be able to clear the exhaust.
Install instructions online are for the 6 cyl and all the pictures are too. I couldn't find anything online about the 4 banger. I'll snap some pictures tomorrow if you still need some help and no one else chimes in.

there should be a hole in the driver's side mount already, but there is not one in the passenger side mount. i had enough room to get a drill inbetween the frame and inner fender.

let me see if i can find some pictures.

I just emailed you over a couple pics. I will try to post them here in the morning.

Thanks,

Matt Walton

Thanks again. I got the photos from the email.

Looks like the install is going to be pretty straight forward. I was looking at other TJ's with the 4.0 and didn't realize that the frame stantions for the motor mounts were that much different in comparison to the 2.5L. Go figure.

My fenders have been off recently so there is only a few bolts holding them on right now, that should help a ton.

I'm excited to go over to the shop and start the project.

After having the skid plate in my garage for a little less than a year I finally installed it tonight. I went a different route since I didnít want to drill near the engine mount due to lack of space. I ordered the mount brackets in the photo below from another well known engine skid plate vendor. I modified one of it at work in order to bolt it on the passenger side (vendor only sells driver side bracket).

After bolting everything all I did was to drill into the UCF tummy tuck to bolt the engine skid plate. I am happy with the results.
