Transfer Case Input Shaft Question

I have a 2000 TJ with a 5.9L from a 2000 Durango both are auto trans. I am using my TC from the TJ witch is a np231J. However I noticed the input shaft is like a 1/2" longer than the Dodge np242D. Will the input shaft from the 242D work in the 231J? Or do I need to buy a something different? Any advice is appreciated.

I no longer listen to what people say, I just watch what they do. Behavior never lies.

It might, you would have to take it apart and see if it fits in the planetary gears. Lot of work but if you are thinking of doing a Slip Yoke at the same time. Otherwise contact Novak they can guide you a bit as they sell ones that work with both gear cuts the 231 has had
