total newb - wheel lug ripped bolt out of axel...what to do?

so the bolt ripped the stud out of the wheel, so theres only 4 left. i just came from driving a volkswagen for 7 years....how do i fix this problem, do i need to get a whole new axel?

No, just get a new stud at an auto parts store. It goes in from the back. Generally a pretty easy fix.

when the stud pulled out through the wheel I am assuming that is sheared off. If this is the case then what brown dog said is correct. You might have to knock out the old piece of the stud remaining and then feed the new one in from the rear. If there is no room, you might have to pull the axle to get it in. The back of the stud is splined a little bit bigger than the hole . use a couple of nuts as spacers to pull the nut into the hole if you can. If the hole was damaged and is now larger than the spline and the lug fits loose you can feed it through the hole in the axle flange and weld in on the back side so it wont turn. . All in all an easy fix.
