tj door surrounds on lj sunrider soft top

I recently bought a used factory soft top for my lj. I have not installed it yet because the top didn't come with door surrounds. I had no idea it would be so hard to find lj door surrounds. My question is, can I us the tj door surrounds without the small bracket on top for the sun rider feature? I understand I will not be able to flip the front of the top backwards but I'm not too worried about that. Having never put a soft top on an lj I just want to know if its possible. Thanks.

TJ and TJ Unlimited (LJ) door surrounds are pretty much the same. The only issue will be that Bracket. Some of the door surrounds the bracket will be a different style so it won't even sit in the surround completely.

Yes. Mostly. My door surrounds that I have on my LJ are from a TJ. Like I said though the brackets for the sunrider top will inhibit the bars laying flat if they have the wrong ones. The guy I got my Soft top and frame from had a bunch of busted up surrounds and frames so we swapped stuff around until it fit correctly.

Best picture I could find of what I was talking about. Look at the Red Circles.

1997-2006 TJ door surrounds will work fine. The retainers on the frame that wigsajumper is referring to are held on by a single screw. It they interfere, just remove them.

I really would suggest however that you find door surrounds with brackets so that you can use the sunrider feature. Check eBay, Craigslist or Daveys Jeeps. Bestop also sells a kit that includes door surrounds with brackets, a bow to help support the top and a rear window retainer: Bestop 55012-01.

Is there a way to purchase the sunrider clips and mount them to a set of tj surrounds? I already have a set of tj surrounds.

Maybe give Davey's Jeep an email or phone call? Maybe bestop will sell you the brackets separately.

When I first pieced together my softop and surrounds didn't match up. The individual I bought them from had a pile of parts that we swapped around until it all worked.

I just want to make sure everybody is on the same page. I had a Sunrider top from Bestop for a long time. It did the sunroof thing when nothing else did and has its own unique frame, door surrounds, windows, etc. The door surrounds were just a bar that the side fabric windows velcro'd around. This isn't what you have, correct? You are talking about the Sunrider feature on pretty much every new top they make?

Here's one as an example:

You can see the door surrounds in the 2nd or 3rd pic.

Wow, no linking? That's weak. Between the terrible mobile theme and this, this forum is getting harder and harder to deal with. Anyways, Google "tj sunrider bestop" and it should be on the first search page.

I turn off the "enhanced" mobile view and switch it to the classic theme...

Bestop's Supertop NX still shows the sunrider feature: https://www.quadratec.com/p/bestop/s...SAAEgIGrPD_BwE

I would check with them for door surrounds.

1998 White TJ with a whole lotta stuff...

I have a pair in the garage with the bracket, but no plunger. I'd be willing to ship them too...
