tire size question

I have the oem wrangler tires on my stock unlimited. Whats the largest tire the stock 15x8 rims can hold?

They can hold a 35x12.5" tire.. it is what your stock Jeep can handle. 31x10.5" is the biggest you should go on stock suspension.

Sorry, I have no answer, but a similar question...

Anyone who can help you can help me, I have a 98 sport 4.0 with 30 inch optional tires (I think the wheels are 15x9.5 according to tire rack), what size of 31's can I get? No one I can find makes 31x9.5-15s.

15x8" wheels most likely... and you can get 31x10.5" tires without any rubbing issues.

You MAY get some rubbing at full lock however, not usually, but if you do... you can add a couple of washers to your steering stops. It takes 5 minutes and you can find out how to do it here if you have to do it (you probably won't).

yes. you dont want a tire thats the same width as your rim.

A tire that is the same width as the wheel won seat and therefore be useless. I dont even know it it could make it on the road...

i know guys who run tires narrower than the rim..
