Throttle body plate scraping walls

I cleaned my TB the other week and I started noticing a metal-metal crunching feeling in my throttle pedal so I took a look at my TB. Inside the plate is scraping against the throttle body wall just where the pin that the plate is connected to meets. Some metal shavings were present too and I'm worried about my engine sucking them into the cylinders. Anyone ever see this? Is there any way to replace just the nylon bushings the plate rides on or should I start looking for a new TB? I looked at some ones in Cherokees in the junker but they were in horrible conditition.

Did you remove the plate when you cleaned the TB? If so loosen the two torx screws enough so you are able to move the plate and reposition it so it does not scrape.

Good question, I started to take the plate off then stopped because it was a PITA, maybe I'll check that... The scraping doesn't always occur, just at times, there is definitely some play on the tb plate pin though

The reason it was a PITA to get the plate out is because the factory uses thread locking compound on the torx screws. I little play in the "pin" is acceptable.

any progress man, (btw its zach attack)
it may take a couple trys to get it right, take your tb off and set the throttle plate and turn it by hand till you get it centered and it does not rub anymore

There is no need to remove the plate (and I would not). You certantly can hold it open and clean with a rag and q-tips if you really want to get in there. As indicated, they are installed wit thread lock. That is important. If they loosen and come out, they of course will go right in the motor.

Haha Zach, I knew it was you the moment I saw the avatar. The plate is in tight but the play exists on the pin that the plate rides on, apparently this is normal but I don't understand where the scraping came from
