Stock tire weight/size capacity?

^*Carrier (sorry)

Anybody know?

I want to switch out the spare I have mounted (28) for a 33 A/T.
Will it clear my stock rear bumper, and if so, will the tailgate mount handle the extra weight?

i know some guys have a 33 on the stock carrier. mine is a 31 and it fits fine. I know that everybody recommends not running a 33 on the stock carrier for long. you may need a spacer to clear the bumper. try using the search feature and you'll find loads of info

any bigger tire will put extra weight on your tailgate and lead to premature failure. it may not go tomorrow or the next day, but it will (in theory and most likely real life) go bad faster than having a stock tire on there. i just upgraded to kentrol hinges since my tailgate hinges were toast. 10 years though, i'm not complaining.

I just added about 20 pounds to mine. I'm hoping it will hold up long enough to get a carrier.

i weighed my spare tire and rim- a worn out bfg mt on a 6" wide standard jeep steel rim and it weighs 50 lbs. my other tire and rim combo that i am running (grizzly wheels with a 29" trxus sts 3/4 tread) weighs 60.8 lbs but i have not and have no intention of putting that on the back as my spare.

You will need a spacer if the tire is a 12.50" width with the stock wheel or the studs will be way too short.I ran a 35" spare (stock wheel)with the RC adapter.I added a bracket on the bumper to hold the extra weight.
