Soft Top question

Does your top have this gap on both front sides?
Is this just because it is older and maybe has shrunk?
When I bought the jeep the previous owner shoved a paper towel in there to close it up.

Thanks

I'm trying to figure out why your top looks like it's not latched down? It looks like it has 2 header bars or something is installed wrong. This is what it should look like.

Boogie is definitely right. Take off the header bar first. It is probably bolted to where your soft top latches for a bikini top. Your soft top needs to sit on top
of the windshield rubber.

I think you are correct there is a header on top of the window. I even tightened the bolts because they were loose.
It didn't make much sense to me why it was there.
I will pull the soft top back tomorrow and snap a picture before and after removal.

Thanks for the quick replies.

If it has one of these windshield channels, remove it.

Yes - looks like someone installed a header bar (which would be used in conjunction with a bikini top) and failed to remove it before reinstalling the full soft top.

Be sure to keep the header bar - in case you want to run a bikini top in the future.

Thank you all for the help
Removed the header bar, tops sits flush now with no gap.
It was a little difficult to get the to front latches to grab but I got them. Had to loosen up the back.

And yes I will keep it as I do plan to order a bikini top. (actually had one on order through Quadratec but canceled it because they said it was on backorder.

Ok next question about the top.
The rear window, the bar at the bottom I think it missing something.
It doesn't really snap/hook into the two small channels on the back.

Check the following video time stamp 12:20 it is what the announcer points too:

Yup that's it. Assuming you have the retainer (tailgate) bar clips mounted on to the body on each side of the tailgate. Looking good!

Got a question for you. How do you like those door vent shades mounted to the door frames? I am contemplating ordering a pair but not sure they'll work as advertised (like a lot of things Jeep).

Yes the jeep has the bar clips.

So it came with those vent shades and since I have really only driven it 50 miles this past weekend and half was with the windows up I can't really answer yet.
I do think they will come in handy when it is raining. This jeep does not have AC so if it starts to rain it may be nice to be able to roll the windows down little bit.

FYI I did buy those end pieces from that eBay listing.
And yes they did work.
These are actually 3d printed copies of the originals and were a perfect fit.
I have never used anything 3d printed before so we will see how they hold up.
