short arms vs long arms
 
well guys, what is the difference. i see lift kits that say 4 inches with long arms, but that means nothin to me cause idk what they are or what they do for the jeep?

10 years ago it was all about long arm lifts because they give a supple ride, are a major mod (the fun kind), and look really obvious so you can tell your Jeep is far from stock.

Then, people noticed when rock crawling that the long arms and welded pivot brackets dragged on everything. Jerry posted a nice hung-up photo in a recent thread.

So then short adjustable arms became the thing you want, and the best lifts curve and shape the control arms to keep them even more out of the way.

I never noticed this on any of the lifts I have looked at. Which company makes a short arm lift with curved control arms?

My boss and I were talking Jeeps and "having a 9" in the rear" came up in conversation once..... the non Jeep people I worked with never gave that a rest all summer:rofl:
