Sentry Key™ engine immobilizer [can a thief bypass this easily?]

Just curious, i have a grey sentry key for my 2004 Jeep TJ and I was curious if this anti theft system was a joke to car thiefs, meaning they can still start vehicle when braking steering column etc. Should I invest in Ravelco???

Ravelco is an awesome system, worth the money **edit** for a non-SKIM TJ.

That said, the factory SKIM works pretty damn well.

Don't believe Ravelco's BS. The only way the SKIM can be bypassed is with another key or swapping out the cluster, skim module and ECM and then breaking the column.

There is a report of a code grabbing device that can read your key and then transmit it to the SKIM antenna, but think through the logistics for a moment.

They have to know you have a key, follow you around enough to grab the code from it. Then find your TJ, wait until you are looking, break into it, break the column, and then start it.

That takes so much effort that it's just easier to tow it away with a tow truck in which case nothing much keeps it safe.

The only thing a Ravelco system does on a Senty key equipped TJ is lighten your wallet and hack up your wiring.
