Sad TC is Weepy...(pics) now with 100% more tranny pics...

Soooo the clutch job began today...can't say im pleased to find this once the skid was off...

I knew the TC had a leak somewhere...I assumed it would be the rear seal or something. I have no idea how long this Jeep has been run without an SYE and the vibes are pretty noticable even with the craptastic TC skid drop the PO slopped together.

I wasn't really expecting this however...

Oil is accumulating at the bottom most two TC housing bolts. Surprisingly the TC skid was dry underneath, there is accumulated dried oil on the skid, but nothing that I would deem fresh.

And a shot of my D35 rear pinion cause it wants to join the hot mess party as well..

Thoughts?

It seems pretty clear that even though I didn't want to part the trans and TC that I am going to have to and then clean up whatever is causing that leak...too bad too, I was planning on a SYE after XMAS...

Trans is out..

This is ugly..

It's a Jeep. It'll be fine.

Ok. It's not hard to take the tcase apart and reseal it with rtv. That or run it till you do your sye and just top up fluid, doesn't look like it's that bad really. My tcase was leaking and made a mess everywhere but was hardly low on fluid.

Yup...lol.

Im actually tempted to SYE now while it's out but that'd throw my budget for a loop.

I wasn't worried about resealing the case honestly...ill either do it or I won't if the fluids ok. Im not getting any on the driveway sooo...im really just looking for the jeep wizards to chime in here if they see anything wrong.

If the skid itself didn't have oil on it that says to me it was a very slow seeping leak. I wouldn't worry about it if its an issue to you to change it right now or if you want to wait to do an SYE. Just check fluid level periodically and keep it full. Yes, its worth correcting at some point but not a real dangerous issue as long as you keep TC filled with fluid IMO.

Not a hard job.. TC's are easy to rebuild. You can do it..

Have you ever had someone say “I read online that….” Really? You read it online so that makes it true? Sometimes yes, but where did you get your information?

If there is just a bit of wetness, and your fluid is ok, I'd hold off till you're ready for you SYE. I ran one for years like that, it required a top off (maybe 4 oz fluid)) about every 2-3 months.
