Rough changing into 2nd when it is cold.

When it is cold out my Jeep has a hard time changing into 2nd. It did not start happening until I put on my lift with my xfer case drop ( I know I know.. get rid of the xfer case drop and put in a SYE/CV). Anyone else have this problem? I think I'm going to try cutting the plastic spacers in half and putting them back on. ....see if that will help. It only happens when it is really cold and every once in a while when it is warm.

And the accessory every Jeep should have...DIRT/MUD!

Do you have the old accordion style rubber boot. They get really hard when it's really cold and make shifting into 2nd a big problem. I had to pop my boot out of the console this morning so it would shift properly. As soon as I did that, it shifted great again.

Mine dose it too, even before i put my lift on when ever its cold it is hard to get into second. Yes i am running the t-case drop but a buddy of mine also has trouble going into 2nd when its cold out and he has an SYE and CV DS. I think they all do it, once the jeep is warmed up it dosent do it anymore.

I also have the same problem. If i let it warm up long enough it usually works better

Mine did this also.. but only after I changed the tranny fluid.. come to find out it was suppose to have Synchromesh type fluid... It has additives that help with synchronization so you don't grind gears or have a hrd time shifting in cold weather!

try you'll like it!

Leather isn't much better than rubber... my shift boot was like a rock tonight when I got ready to leave work at -12*F..... bout the only thing you can do is shift nice and slow till things get warmed up... or maybe move to a warmer state like I am ready to do...

Ditto on that. I thought the oil had thickened up in the cold to the viscosity of honey, but it was just that dang boot. I recommend just leaving it out of the bezel for the winter... and changing the oil.

I don't have the accordion style boot. It actually grinds if I don't ease it in to 2nd when it is cold. I need to change the tranny and xfer case fluid anywayz.. which I'll do when it warms up to anything over 45 degrees.
