Rhino Lining inside of jeep? Worth 6-800 bucks?

i got a quote to rhino line the inside of my jeep and he said for the entire inside up on the inside walls would be anywhere from 6 to 8 hundred bones now is it worth it?

What are the major differences or pros and cons of rhino lining versus herculiner?

no it is not worth 6-8 hundred, we usually charge some where between 4-5. usually you can get the shop to go down on their price if you take everything out and do as much as you can on the thing so it will take them less

read this thread. hopefully by the postings i posted i will talk you out of rhino liner and the cheap roll ons.

https://www.jeepforum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=601548

if the shop wont come off of 6-8hundred find another shop.

If I can do a minor threadjack, how hot do the floorboards get compared to carpet and no carpet?

I've got mine Line-xed and no carpet, when we go down to moab in September the outside temp runs close to 100 degrees on somedays and my floorboards stay reasonable cool, they only get slightly warm to the touch.

I had mine rhino'd for $450 and I love it check out my profile for pics. My top is off always and floor plugs are pulled. Strip everything out except drivers seat and take out the seat when you get there.

Patrick, What kind of prep did you do to the surface before you started? Are you having any peeling or cracking issues? I have a couple of gallons of the stuff, but have been afraid of using it because of those issues.

Also did the Upol Raptor. Did mine for around 150 as well. Looks awesome, not too rough to the touch, and seems to be holding up fine.

There are plenty of threads on upol that help in installation. My biggest problem was I only had one day to disassemble, scruff, tape/cover, spray, and reassemble. Started around 9am and didn't have everything in until after midnight. So if you have a full weekend, take your time.

Oh now this pisses me off. Are you talking about the Ziebart in Castleton? Because I did exactly what you just described with them last year and they charged me about $650 and I wasn't very impressed at all with their neatness on the job. Terrible job masking and some runs and stuff (I even have a decent amount of overspray on the bottom of my dash). The only reason I coughed up so much money was because I thought if I did it, it would look sloppy so I paid a professional to do it and still ended up with a half-***** job. To the OP, do it yourself, its a fraction of the cost, if I were to do it again, I would definitely be spraying it myself.

I have done 2 jeeps now and a p/u bed with the do it your self kits. One is Herc and one a brand Walmart carried for 1/2 the price. Both so far seem to hold up fine. Mind you I just did the Walmart kit a week or so ago. The Herc Jeep is over a year and several swamp runs (2 a month at least) etc and no issues.

Do it your self but take a full weekend to pull everything and strip prep etc then pain the next day and wait 24hrs before putting the seats etc back in. I let mine bake in the FL sun topless for a day and that helped cure it.

the Herc is much thicker. The TJ will be a street beach use mostly so I was nto concerned with it. I did spply 3 coats of the stuff.

Just a few pictures if you want to see more check here

if you do herc or any other DIY make sure you sand a lot.

the directions say lightly sand, which i did and it started to peel.

get all the oil etc off as well

i put duplicolor over the herc and it seems to hold up well to fix the bad spots from my poor prep work.

it was a lot cheaper than the herc.

I have done both, the DIY stuff is ok, it is really a huge PIA and can look somewhat bad depending on what you use and how you do it. You can't "roll" into all the corners and knooks and crannies so you have to either paint that in with a brush or use a rattle can. All the ones I did turned out ok, but one major difference other than appearance is thickness, you pay for a lot of material as the DIY kits don't get you very thick. Another is the actual material that they use vs. the DIY kits is a lessor material. Again this issue is covered all over on many threads, but it all comes down to what you are going to use it for and if you want and have the time to do it yourself. My vote, it is not worth the headache to me, I had mine LineX'd and it was completely awesome and they charged me $550.
