Replacing half doors with full doors

I was going to replace my half doors with full doors. Are there any problems I will encounter when doing this? Obviously the ignition key and the door key wont match but I never lock my doors anyway.

I did a search but found no info.

Swap the lock cylinders. Should not be too difficult.

the only thing i have read, is that it may be necessary to adjust the hinge plates a little.

Take out the lock cylinders and take them and a spare key to a locksmith, cost me $15/ea to have them matched to my ignition key.

X2 on this, I did the same with an used center console once, there is no reason to have a key not work.

Also, yeah I think you'll need to use the door surounds, that is if you want to put the top on!

Yes, just make sure the top and doors you acquire are for a TJ (1997-2006).

And be prepare to adjust the door hinges. Make sure not to loosen the screws for the "hinge halves" that are on the tub. Only loosen and adjust the hinge halves that are on the new doors.

By doing it this way, you can go back to the half doors with no adjustments. Also, expect to strip the heads of the screws out, and there isn't any paint under the hinges. So,if you're repainting the doors to match, get them adjusted first, then paint.

I do this every Spring/Fall.

I swap the mirrors over (only one set of mirrors), swap the doors over physically, and then I have to adjust the striker plates for better fitment. They are a T50 on the tub and a T30 (?) on the door itself. When I got my half doors, I took the lock cylinders out, and repinned them to my factory hard doors so my factory key works with them (it isn't very hard to do, just time consuming). I also spray lube through each of the door pin 'holes' on the tub and take sandpaper to the door pins on the doors themselves to remove the rust and buildup.

When running my soft top, I run door surrounds as I have upper fabric doors and I want it to be was 'waterproof' as possible. The door surrounds are the same for half and full doors - they are removed when my hard top is installed.

I run half doors when I wheel, and full doors the rest of the time, so I swap back and forth all the time. I adjusted the strikers and the doors so they go back and forth with no fuss. Since I swap frequently, I found it is worth it to me to have mirrors on both. Keeping the hinges greased, it takes about a minute to swap.

I wish I had the same situation as some of you. I bought some full doors, and there is about a 3/4" overlap on the windshield frame on the passenger's door. And that is after loosening the hinges and the bolts on the roll bar. The gap on the lower portion of the door is good.

I previously had another set of full doors (but sold them) that fit just fine.

So I would say, don't expect them to fit. Jeep's must have had a final assembly operation where a couple guys with torx bits and rubber mallets made things fit.

Also, you can buy sets of lock cylinders with keys for not much.
