red or clear tail lights?

time to bite the bullet and buy my tail lights. I am going with 6 in oval tails and reverse lights. Question is should I go with clear LED's so both back up and tail lights look the same or go with red LED tails and clear back ups. I already have aux back up lights so I can see when backing up.

Wtf?
Tail lights have to be red dude...
If you're asking about lens color, its a different thing.
Eg. If you want a clear lens, with red LEDs.

He said
"Should I go with CLEAR LEDs"
Clear LEDs would mean white, cuz then he said "or go with RED LEDs"
Clear (white?) LEDs != clear lenses.

I'd go with both being clear. The only thing is legally you are supposed to have red red reflectors to the rear. They do not have to be part of the tailight and you are supposed to have red to the side.

When savvy gives me free tail lights I will say all other tail lights are not compliant!!I moved out of New Jersey a 1 1/2 ago and I passed their state runned inspection 3 times with round clear tails no red reflector on 2 diff. jeeps. I never got pulled over by any cops especially the notorious bergen county troopers!Check other foreign cars a couple come all clear!!! Of course make sure you install a plate light & reverse

NOt doubting your story but...
You are incorrectly assuming some things.

In the entire USA-
ALL tail lights MUST show red when on (This means the light they put out.)
ALL brake lights MUST show red when on.
Turn signals must show either Red or Rmber.
No other colors are allowed. (No green or blue or whatever)
Rear reflectors are required, and ALL rear reflectors Must be Red.
The reflector can be part of the tailight lens or separate.

If your vehicle has side markers and side reflectors at the rear, they Must be Red.

Now - in your state, as a consumer you may have the right to deviate from the above (I do not know all states law by heart but we did sell our vehicles in all 50 states and had to meet the above criteria for all of them) but I highly doubt it - those are basic DOT safety requirements. If your state requires inspections you can bet they require those colors/reflectors to be in place.

Your state inspectors just didn't notice or didn't care, that's all.

To the OP - you can have clear lenses with red bulbs, or red lenses.
But you can not have clear lenses over clear bulbs.
