Question about lockers???

I need to up grade my Dana 35. would there be anything wrong with going with DANA LOCKER ON REAR WITH 30 SPLINE AXLES and assie locker up front or can you get a aussie locker in the rear?....reason why i ask is because Yukon has a good deal on a DANA SUPER axle kit with Dana locker for rear. thanx guys

This is just a personal opinion but there is no way I'd lock a stock D35. I'd get the locker in the Super35 sure. You'd see dramatic improvement if you just locked your front with an Aussie locker and left the rear one alone until you upgrade.

You may want to go with the aussie locker. It's a hell of a lot cheaper compared to the cost of your Yukon kit, setup labor, and a master install kit. I'm not sure exactly how much you're getting this kit for, but in the end it'll still end up costing you over a grand by the time it's all said and done. The aussie goes for about 300.

Lots will tell you not to lock the D35, and they are partially correct. Get a super 35 kit, whether its from Yukon, Alloy USA, or Superior, you will get a 30 spline locker and 30 spline shafts which will improve the strength of the axle, the axle still has shortcomings but you have addressed most of them with this kit.

With that kit you can get either a Detroit or an ARB, after having 2 Detroits and now an ARB, I love my ARB. Get your axles regeared and if you want an Aussie upfront get it, or a Lockrite, you will never even know its there in 2wd, but when your in 4wd its noticable, and works great.

Bottom line is this, I wouldnt recommend locking a D35 w/out doing a Super 35 style upgrade...period, you will waste your money and wished you had done this later on down the line, sometimes being cheap will cost you more in the long run...I know, but now I have my problem solved. D44 Alloy USA shafts and an ARB.

Or a lockright from powertrax. Basically the same as an aussie and can be found for $250. If you got 33's or larger, I'd lock the front only (if I were you). The front locker doesn't require any other axle mods for additional strength.
