Dented it where? On the diff cover seating surface? A pic would be useful.

When you have a choice, buy American made.

Isn't the diff housing cast iron? Must have been stuck pretty good.

I would like to see pictures too.

Garage
If its in the sealing area on the housing, fill the dent with jb weld, and file it smooth.
If you mean the cover got messed up removing it, buy another and replace it.

I can't tell where the dent is. Could you point at it and take the picture or describe it? Is it just on the inside edge of the housing? If so just file it flat and continue.

File it off as has been mentioned pulling the file from inside the cavity towards you.

I dinged that edge with a scraper cleaning off old RTV...

It is low res though, it won't let me upload if it's normal resolution haha. Basically, the inner edge is slightly raised now and no longer flush with the rest of the mating surface. I have a lubelocker diff gasket I'm going to be putting on.

If the gasket surface isn't flat just take a flat file and lay it across the surface and even out the bump.
