Problems with replacement subwoofer for 2001 Wrangler -- grounding issue?

I replaced my factory subwoofer with the "Quadratec Replacement Center Console Subwoofer for 01-06 Jeep Wrangler TJ" (sorry I'm new here so it won't let me post a link).

Initially it was working fine, but after playing bass-heavy music or music at high volume it drops out and stops working. I've glanced at a few other threads and one thing I'm considering is that it is a grounding issue. However, I don't know where the subwoofer (or stereo) is grounded at. I do have an aftermarket (new-ish) stereo.

Does anyone know where I can find the grounding cable and have suggestions for where/how to properly ground it?

Any other insight is much appreciated. (Another suggestion I saw was getting a new alternator. Is this overkill? I figure I should check the grounding first.)
