PCM for 2005 4.0l

I'm fairly certain I blew my computer when jump starting another vehicle. Jeep has been running very erratic. Stalls out. Some mornings it will show six codes, others it will be as many as 11. Sometimes it'll run normal and the engine light will shut off for the rest of the commute.

Some of the codes are related to the PCM. Some are related to the IAC. And other random ones.

Is there a place online to buy a used one cheaper than retail? And if so, will it already be programmed?

There is this guy...

But, they all (of the rebuilders and such) have mixed reviews. The guy above is fairly new to the scene. Call and ask for a forum discount.

If the engine runs, and you can drive the Jeep, PCM failure is not very likely.

The first thing to do is buy, borrow, or rent an OBD-II trouble coder reader and download all the Check Engine Light trouble codes. Then decipher them. You will likely see a common thread to the primary cause of the trouble codes by comparing the listed possible causes for each individual code. Post the exact trouble codes by the numbers here for comment by other JeepForum members.

One might more likely suppose that you; blew a fuse, damaged an OBD-II engine management sensor, or possibly melted a wire and have a short circuit.

Manual or automatic? If auto, are you getting P0218 or P0714 codes?
You’ll need a scanner that can read transmission codes to see those.

out of curiosity but what makes you think doing this blew your Jeep's computer? did you put the leads on back to front or similar?

I've used my Jeep to jump start several other vehicles with no issues
