to oil guard or no?

so yeah I live in Canada...just purchased my jeep 04 and plan on keeping it until it rusts to nothing...so another words a long time...

i live in Canada and our winters get very bad and very salty...oil guard for 100 dollars sprays the bottom and if you do it each year they give you a warrenty with it, if any rust happens they replace it without question...

is this good for the jeep and is it needed...am I wasting 100 dollars?

Personally I would NOT

I live in Chicago ( Where i think they invented salted roads )

I do not get undercoating, I DO clean the underside whenever I can
I also go under the Jeep after every time I wheel it and clean all the mud/dirt/grass out of it. Then I go BACK under armed with 2 cans of WD40 and a butt load of rags and wipe down EVERYTHING I can touch ( frame, suspention, driveshafts, you'd be suprised )

My jeep is a 97, My Daily Driver, has over 180K miles (that's over 100 per day)
and has 0 rust!

I have friends that swear by undercoating...I swear AT undercoating

I have a Jeep :D

Gritz good call...yeah your right probably...

well ya as much as dw40 is great and all, it cant be as good as oil guard...my buddy actually works there and he said he could lay it on thick for me and do a super good job...i just thought for 100 dollars (he might do it cheaper) I get the warenty and the peace of mind knowing if there is rust its oil guards problem and not mine...

i think I am just going to do it...

I also live in Canada and I swear by Krown rust control. I have owned three vehicles over the past few years. Two were Krowned every year; the third, that I never Krowned, was just haulled of to the wreckers because the body had rusted away. That is proof enough for me that the stuff works.

I second the Krown suggestion.
I used Krown on my last car which was 14 years old before I wrecked it and not a speck of rust.
Don't confuse undercoating with Krown. Not the same thing.

$100 sounds cheap compared to all that trouble.
