Another good reason not to do burnouts with jeeps and to use grammar so others can understand what you're saying.

OlllllllO

Peeling out your Jeep

Fill out your profile; axle, tires, tranny etc. Hopefully you only effed up your axle shaft. Could be ring& pinion but we might be able point you in the right direction with more info. welcome

Why does it say in your profile that you have 33s then? Profiles gotta be accurate for us to help you.

You probably damaged the rear end because you wanted to be cool and burn out.

It sounds like a broken pinion/ring gear tooth. I had the same problem a couple months ago. I noticed when one time I was stopped, started going, the whole jeep torqued to one side, a big snap, then I started moving. That was the pinion tooth gouging into my dif cover. If you are even the slightest bit mechanically savvy you can check that yourself, so you don't have the shop wasting your time and money 'finding' the problem.

Like the above never monday said, it sounds like a Detroit or a lunchbox behaving normally! He just needs to do a little investigative work maybe? It's new to him.

yup sounds just like when i broke my spider gears.. doesn't make a constant popping always, rather just happens when some of the broken teeth got caught between the R&P or rest of the spider gears.....

If it was a broken ring and pinion he wouldn't be driving the thing!

my rear detroit does this every now and then but there is no damage at all...like once a month. if you didnt buy it new then you might have some sort of locker in the rear. if there is no locker i would suggest you probably broke a tooth most likely on your ring gear. depending on where the chip lands it can make its way into the spider gears every now and then and tear your spider gears up too

Find God, your gonna need him.

I like that theory but I don't think He'll be so lucky.

I think now would be a good time to change your diff fluid. Drain it into a clean plastic bucket either use a mesh strainer from the kitchen or take one of those magnet on a stick things and see what you find. Let us know.
