some one could have put a liquid into the low pressure side or the evaporator dryer is clogged. The compressor might not be going bad it might have some liquid on the wrong side of the a/c system

I would say its probably the compressor starting to sieze up. If it doesnt do it when the AC is off that is a good indication that the bearing is still ok. It also is a good indication that the clutch itself is also engauging. The other unlikely option is that its just on the edge of being over charged or blocked in one of the lines creating a bunch of pressure and not allowing it to circulate properly.

'02 Sport..... Stock no more.... RE 3.5 SF, RE adjustable trackbar(F/R) and 33x12.50x15 BFG MT's installed

Garage
Try cleaning out your IAC valve could fix your idle problem. As for accelerating in 6th, what RPMs are you turning? You just might be lugging it

Welcome to the forum
the clutch is good because the problem goes away when it's turned off.
