Need recommendation for new top

2003 Wrangler

I'm looking for recommendations for a new soft top. My old top is ripped and in need of replacement. I previously used a Bestop Replace-a-Top on my OEM soft top frame and door surrounds. The thing is, I never used the 3 rear windows. I basically used it as a Safari Top (March-November, then hardtop in Winter). When the weather is nice, I ride door less with the top up a lot, but I do like to fold the top all the way down sometimes. When its raining, I leave the top up and put the full doors on, still no rear windows (no carpet/no rear seat).

I'm trying to decide which way would be better for me. Go with a just a Safari Top or go with a Bestop Replace-a-Top again?

With the doors and door surrounds on, will a Safari Top keep the water out of the front seat area (parked or driving)? How much of a pain is it to put a safari top on and off? Would the Replace-a-Top be worth basically 3x the cost? Will Bestop sell just the top skin without any windows?

Thanks for any input.

X2. All you have to do for a safari top is unzip all the windows. Yes if you do safari and roll the windows up, you will not get wet at all. The sides of your back seat area will slightly though.

Sounds like a half top, (bikini), and a windjammer would serve your purpose.

Just out of curiosity, do those flip back "Sunrider" things work okay? Can you drive with the top flipped open or does it buffet and flap badly?

Mines too bad. The joint where it flips back (OEM) is some sort of plastic and one side has broken. If you fold the flip properly it's not bad. With that said I'd rather drop the whole top.

Thanks for the responses. The Trektop looks nice but I'd be paying all that for the windows, door surrounds and hardware which I would never use.

The Safari style bikini top I was looking at is similar to the one in the picture above, but since it goes all the way to the back, I dont think I'll need the windjammer. My concern was how much of a pain it was to put on and take off on the days I want to go full topless. Anyone have one?

Bikini tops are not difficult to remove or install.
