Irongrave and KJS

Name: Andrew and Kai
Username: Irongrave and KJS
Mods (optional): 97 TJ 4.0 AX15
4in clayton springs, Bilstine shocks Clayton short arms upfront,
triangulated 4 link out back.
4:88 gears in a LP30 with JKS disconnects and a trussed D44 with
Serious offroad 1 ton steering
35in KM2s on D windows
AtoZ fab front tubby bumper
AtoZ fab tire carrier rear bumper
AtoZ fab rockers
SYE with a tom woods shaft
Blue torch fab works front cage
Custom H4 headlight conversion with LED rings

Story (optional): I had been wheeling for about 4 years when my dad
attended the Wheeler for the Wounded NJ event my club was hosting to
help out. During the event my mom decided that they needed a Jeep so
the hunt was on. We found this TJ for sale on here that belonged to
TJJeepGuy. So right before a huge snow storm in October my dad and I
headed to CT with my truck and trailer to pick it up. We made it home
before the snow started flying I think it was some type of omen.
Since then we've been wrenching on it together and been wheeling a
with it. The bug has bit and taken hold. With Poison Spyder rear
corners, S.A.W. airbumps and a new frameless soft top waiting to go on
and metal cloak front fenders on order we've got a lot to do this
spring.

-Rock Krawler X-Factor 5.5 inch lift that I stretched to 101" wb

-Recentered HP dana 60 front and sterling 10.5 rear with 5.38 gears and arb lockers

-4.0 motor with a banks header and custom intake

-AX-15 trans

-Atlas 4.3 t-case

-Warn XD 9000i winch

-Homemade bumper/grill guard

-Homemade 1/4 inch armor from tailgate to cowl

-Boat tailed the rear quarter panels 6 inches on each side with aluminium tailgate

-Rock Crawler fiberglass hood

-Custom cage tied to the frame at 6 points

-Homemade fuel cell that fits behind the rear seat and uses the stock sending unit

-PSC hydrolic assist on custom drag link and tie rod using heims

-Hand throttle, rock lights

-14.50/43/17 Super Swamper SX's

-CRAWLFAB weld on beadlocks

I bought this TJ as a salvage about twelve years ago. It was a rollover with 35ooo miles, a 4 inch lift, and 33's. Since then it has been done and redone about 5 times. It seems to get a little bigger and badder every year. Latest redo included ditching the currie 9 inches and recentering and installing a superduty 60 and sterling rear. A V8 and four speed is next on the list someday. I love wheeling, wrenching, and burning metal so who knows where it will end.

This is one of the many phases my TJ has been in over the past few years - it isn't done, as they never are. I love wheeling and I wheel hard, unfortunately I don't have a ton of pictures wheeling - it has only been in this form since last Summer and I wasn't able to do a ton of wheeling last year. Thanks for looking!

Story:

I first bought this jeep back in 2008, a couple of months after I had totaled my previous TJ. I was able to salvage everything from the wreck except for the lift which bummed me out, because it hadn't even been a year that I had all the mods on, and I didn't go offroad as much as I would have liked to. As the months went by I slowly started to become envious of modded jeeps that I passed by, and eventually convinced myself that I need to build a bigger and badder jeep than before. After countless days of research, I finally started to order all the suspension and axle parts to make it drivable as soon as possible. After I got her back from the clayton LA lift being welded in, I finished her up and took her out and so far she has handled like a dream. Now to learn how to weld so I can tackle a D60 build out.

Yes I do wheel 38s with D44's and have not broken anything, yet!

Many more things are still on the agenda to get done. Thanks for looking

Story: We traded the wife’s 04 WJ for this 04 LJ as I have wanted an unlimited since the first time I had seen one, and she used it as her DD until I could buy her the car she wanted. I sold my restored CJ to get her the Ford Fusion that she wanted, so the fun could begin. I found most of my parts used/free/traded for with other parts or labor and started changing what didn’t work well for what I did or what I wanted, and have it be something that my wife still likes to drive because her and my daughter along with my nieces like to cruise it around. The results so far are good and I like where it is going (Jeeps are never done) and I have done it on a budget. We use this rig for pulling our pop-up camper places, cruising, trail rides/off-road adventures, and my driver to and from work when they are not enjoying it. Some day hope to have another so that this will become a little more extreme, but for now we are enjoying and using it as much as we can with what we have.

Mods (optional): Skyjacker 4" springs, Skyjacker adjustable front lower arms, Rusty's fixed lower rear arms, 4.56 gears, Rough Country front disconnects, Teraflex hand throttle, Flowmaster 40 series muffler (dumped), 33x12.50 BFG KM2's, Tuffy dual-overhead console for my bad radio habits.

Story (optional): This is a 2005 LJ, 6-speed. I had 3 Jeeps for my first 3 vehicles. A TJ, ZJ, and XJ. Then our only public offroad park in Iowa closed in 2004 or 2005, so I had no reason to have an offroad vehicle. I went through several other ford vehicles, when my most recent Ford Expedition got totalled by one of our HUGE Iowa deer February 2011. I decided that I had to get another Jeep after being out of one for so long, and that I'd suck it up and drive 2 hours to the nearest Jeep club's offroad land and join them. I knew I wanted an LJ because I'd accumulated so much gear to carry after having bigger vehicles for the past few years. I found this one about 2 hours away, went down and schooled the salesman on Jeeps and drove it home. I found out from the salesman that the Jeep had "supposedly" been owned by the service manager at a Jeep dealership in Anchorage, Alaska. He then sold it to one of his friends who was in the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. That officer decided he wanted to move to Iowa, so he drove down here to Iowa in something else and had the Jeep shipped from Alaska to Iowa, and immediately traded it in on a pickup. The best part of the story is that I'm also a cop, so I felt cool buying a sweet Jeep from another officer who originally came from basically a different country. The lift was already on it when I bought it, I've done everything else since then with no plans to stop.

Agreed. Although it seems like the only time he shows up anywhere on the forum is to enter the contest. Not that it matters, but I tend to give weight to ongoing active members when judging rigs.
