Just get high line fenders with a 3" lift if all you are looking to do is fit bigger tires but get ready to be flamed. Once you put these tires on, you will immediately realize that you have just made your vehicle so much worse without first addressing some key TJ issues.

i have never really looked into the largest size tires i could run on this until recently. what kind of issues would i be running into? axle strength, drive train issues?

You can do some research on the subject but just to start, the big 3 are...
Axles
Brakes
Steering

You will realize that this is going to cost you way more then just fenders and tires.
