i was surfing quadratec and came across this keyless entry kit. Anyone do this conversion? It would be nice for the lazy factor and the fact that my doors and ignition don't share the same key or won't once i replace the door

I've seen acuaters installed. They worked good very expensive though. They were used with an alarm. Unless you have a hard top I would not even consider it though.

haha Yhea i have my actuators waiting to be put in. I bought them from Bestbuy for like 5 bucks a piece (discount) but normally they still only sell for 30 ish. Pretty much everything you need except the keyless transmitter, which if ur planning on adding a alarm like myself you will get separately. However im sure the quadratec kit works just as well and has all the odds and ends where i might have to dig around the garage alittle bit more for everything. If i can find the write up i used for reference i will post it.

dllb,
did you just put connectors at the doors so you can take them on and off?

yep, also makes for a clean install, no wires running to the doors. The only drawback is the doors have to be closed before you can lock them with the remote.

but seriously...
I would only put a keyless entry if i was going to add an alarm as well. If you are like me and value the items inside of your jeep, it is worth it to get an alarm and put the door lock actuators on. I have a soft top, so i am more prone to the theft thing, thats why i have remote door locks and an alarm....

I bought my keyless entry mechanism from 4wd hardware. It wasn't cheap at $300 but it does the job flawlessly. There's only two pins to connect with the doors and that's it, you are ready to go.

I've never even locked my Jeep! Not even sure that the doors are keyed the same as the ignition.
