Help with a friends Jeep

ok so here's the deal, a friend of mine,a girl, her brother went to iraq with the marines and he left his jeep with her while he was gone. She of coarse let her boyfriend take it into the woods, and with a lot of effort gets it stuck. So starts this saga, at this point he spend about two weeks trying to get it out. First the rear tires stopped moving...driveshaft wasnt moven...at this point the front left is all that is moving....A loud clanking noise started and shortly after it gave out all together and nothing is moving now the tires are free movin... Im pretty sure it is the transfer case but i thought id check with guys who should know before i tell her to buy a new one to put in....

ps.. the things still stuck so if anyone is in north alabama and feels like a good challenge let me know...

Transfer case sounds like the culprit since the front wheel was moving after the rear stopped. No point in buying a new case yet, still got to get it unstuck

If she's lucky it's just the TC, my guess is it will be more than that. I would hope she comes clean and tells him what happened. This could get spendy for someone.

I would tell your friend to tell her boyfriend to run and hide. Because, from personal experience with a friend, you DO NOT want to piss off a United States Marine. I am amazed it has been back there for two weeks and hasn't been vandalized. Is this on private or public property? Check around with your local friends and see if anyone has a truck or jeep that can make it back there and get it unstuck. If the backhoe can't get it out I don't know what will.

If the backhoe doesnt get it out, you need another operator. Ive been in the oilfield all my life and seen backhoes completely sunk, over the rear tires. All it takes is a skilled operator with experience. If you cannot get it out with the backhoe because of inadeqite operation, and cannot get a winch, use a chain hoist.

I had to use one a few years ago because our backhoe couldnt get to the truck because of the tight entrance. I hooked on to a tree (using a tree saver) and took about an hour but we got it out, slowly but surely.
This was the truck that was stuck. Tank mud is something else, so was my ******* friend for getting it stuck in the first place.

It looks dry but about 2" under that dryed brown stuff is about 2' of solid muck. It had hundreds if not thousands of pounds of suction on it, look by the tires how mucky it was. All the way over the frame on both sides. Those are 33" tires.

OMG, thanks for the laugh!!! Seriously, take some pics of it stuck and the surrounding area then post em here. Then maybe we can help you with ideas on getting it out. Once that is done it will be easier to diagnose your problem. BTW, might want to take a couple pics of your "friends" BF so she can remember him......

At this point it's probably more economical to just part it out in place

The top and doors on this vehicle are designed only for protection against the elements. Do not rely on the top and doors to contain occupants within the vehicle or to protect against injury during an accident. Wear seatbelts at all times.

Well my dads 60hp 4x4 tractor (smaller/medium sized) got stuck the other day on one side, it was way down in the mud that was under the dry looking surface. It almost went over on its side. A neighbor with a backhoe came out and tried and tried to pull it out, forwards and backwards, Couldnt get it to budge. He ended up paying another guy 150 dollars to get it out and what did he show up with first but a backhoe. He had it out in about 5 minutes.

Oh and I hope that marines jeep gets taken care of and not left out till he gets back. I also hope he kicks his sisters boyfriends ***....................as long as he doesnt get in trouble for it (does he even know about it?)
