Gear Pattern Check

Something isn’t adding up with my front regear

Backlash is at 0.006 and I’ve got almost all my pinion depth shims used up 0.066. Hardly any shims on the pinion side of the carrier other than the big 0.100 and on the other side running about 0.122. If I move the pinion any less deep then I need less than 0.100 on the pinion side to get correct backlash and that just doesn’t make sense..

So thinking of running with this pattern. What do you think?

Hard no, pinion is too deep. Find some more carrier bearing shims

I want a J-Series

Thanks, I’m half tempted to return these gears. The rear went in ok and the factory gears were equally shimmed so seams crazy I’m going to have to go less than 0.100 on a side. I can stack a few 0.020s but never heard of doing that before.

It’s only my second set of gears. Thanks for the help!
