Engine swap question

I have a ‘97 TJ. Factory - 4cyl, AUTO, 4wd, AC. I have been wanting to update/upgrade the power plant as a whole. I ran across a ‘98 Grand Cherokee 4.0, auto, 4wd, AC, etc…guy “had it for a project and lost interest” says I can fire it up and hear it run, and drive it around (except there are zero body panels on it, doors, etc). Engine shows 170.xxx but supposedly doesn’t smoke or have any leaks. Can pick the whole thing up (rolling chassis with engine and trans, for less than $300…again, I haven’t physically seen it or heard it run or drive…but regardless, would the engine and trans swap over? I’ll have the computer and wiring harness, etc…my ‘97 is a run around toy, doors off ride the kids around, windows out, top on (I shave my head…don’t like the burn)…wanting to just spruce it up a little…wanting to know if it would work? Fab work is ok…I have some buddies that do a great job at it if need be…just checking before driving down to see it…

You could make it work.

I don't think I'd ever do a 6 cyl swap though. Too much work for not enough power.

It would be almost as much work as a V8 swap, almost....
Motor mount need relocating, wiring harness needs splicing

Some have said easier to sell what ya have and buy a rig with a 4.0
