My jeep runs fine. Just when I turn it off, sometimes I get a little engine knock. My oil was changed just recently and is at the full level. I just put some fuel injector cleaner in there. Any other clues what it could be?
My catalytic converter started rattling at 79K miles, just before the 80K emissions warranty was about to run out. I had a $350 exhaust job done for free under warranty. You would always hear it when you turned off the ignition. Maybe that's what you're hearing? Good luck.

Is yours a 5 speed by any chance? Mine rattles when I shut it off too... However if I press down on the clutch while shutting it off, the noise doesn't appear. I think it's the tranny but can't say for sure.

it is the tranny and I was assured that it is just noise of it still spinning a little. pressing the clutch does totally disengage and the rattle goes away. HTH no harm should come either way and it happens to all five speeds that I know of.
