So what happens if I just unplug my SKIM and put in a new one? Why does it have to be reprogramed? It just looks for the chip right?

SKIM Problems

HI All,

Hope this thread is still active!

Have had problem with SKIM for past 2 years..back then, someone told we to "toggle" passenger door lock switch 6 times on/off and this would reset the SKIM, it has worked great for the past two years, now can't get my 99 JGC to stay running!! How /where is the SKIM module so I can try unplugging it to see if this will solve? Also, if the chip in the Jeep key is the issue how would getting a generic cut key and using Jeep key near the ignition switch resolve the issue, as some have suggested??

Need help, asap, as Jeep is stranded 3 hours from home & i need to get it started, thanks!!

Skim is that black piece under the steering column that has a black ring that goes over where the key goes in.

So has anyone tried the allcomputerresources.com SKIM delete? This is the last major hurdle for me for my CJ's engine swap...

Yes that's the one. If you are looking to reprogram your jeep's PCM their are very few options, B&G is one of the first to come up on any search.

Well, I'll be using one or the other for mine. I have a '00 TJ motor, pcm, and skim, but no key or vin . So unless I find the diamond pcm in the junkyard rough, I'll report back with how the skim removal went.

Quoting my own post....

I happened to find a pcm on ebay, but subsequent calls to the allcomputer people left me frustrated with their customer service. The first time I called, they quoted me at $120, no problem. By the time I was ready to send it, I called again and they seemed annoyed with answering my questions. I was told they don't take customers' pcms to mod, but eventually after badgering them they agreed. But, like I said I found one on ebay, so I guess someone else will have to be the guinea pig! Good luck!

autocomputerexchange warranty sucks. they want me to send mine in so they can test it then they will send it out. Meaning I would be without a truck for over a week. **** this place
